1905 PCGS MS64 $2.50 Gold Liberty
$815.00
The Liberty Head Gold Quarter Eagle, minted from 1840 to 1907, is the longest-running series of $2.50 gold coins produced by the U.S. Mint. Designed by Chief Engraver Christian Gobrecht, the coin’s obverse features Lady Liberty, inspired by Benjamin West’s painting “Omnia Vincit Amor.” Notably, unlike larger denominations, the Liberty Quarter Eagle did not adopt the “In God We Trust” motto after the Civil War.
In 1905, the Philadelphia Mint struck 217,800 of these coins. According to PCGS, less than 1% of these have achieved a grade of MS64, highlighting their rarity in such high condition.
