The American Platinum Eagle is the official platinum bullion coin of the United States. The idea for this prestigious coin originated in 1995, when U.S. Mint Director Philip N. Diehl, ANA President David L. Ganz, and Platinum Guild International Executive Director Jacques Luben initiated the legislative process. After over two years of development, the U.S. Mint released the first Platinum Eagles in 1997.
