Beautifully struck in .9999 fine, 24-karat gold, the 2016 Centennial Anniversary release celebrates the 100th anniversary of Adolph A. Weinman’s iconic 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar design. Each gold coin contains one-half troy ounce of 24-karat gold, symbolic of the coin’s denomination, and features a business strike finish. The U.S. Mint produced only 70,000 of these exquisite pieces, and less than 3% have achieved the perfect grade of 70 by NGC. Furthermore, this particular coin is hand-signed by Miles Standish, the Vice President of NGC. Standish is a prominent numismatist, author, coin grader, and industry innovator. He was the first full-time coin grader at PCGS and joined NGC as a vice president in 2015. In 2011, U.S. Mint Director Edmund Moy honored him with the coveted Director’s Coin for Excellence medal.
